Help with MyACOA Frequently asked questions

If you're having trouble accessing MyACOA, try these steps in order:

  • Refresh the page
  • Clear your browser cache, cookies, and browsing history
  • Try a different web browser
  • Try a different device (for example, a phone or another computer)
  • Restart your computer

If the problem continues, check that your browser and settings meet the requirements below.

MyACOA works with modern, up-to-date web browsers that meet current security standards.

Use the latest version of one of these browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari

Older browsers may not work and can prevent access. ACOA does not recommend or endorse any specific browser or commercial product.

To use MyACOA, your browser must:

  • Allow cookies
  • Allow JavaScript
  • Support Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 or newer

MyACOA uses cookies to work properly. Cookies used by MyACOA do not store personal identifying information. If these settings are turned off, you may not be able to access your account.

To create and access a MyACOA account, you must sign in first using one of the following options:

  • GCKey – Use this if you already have a Government of Canada GCKey or want to create one.
  • Sign-In Partner – Sign in through your bank or another participating provider.

After signing in, you must accept the MyACOA Terms and Conditions.

After you sign in for the first time:

  • Enter your name and email address
  • Open the validation email sent to you
  • Select the link in the email

Once your email is confirmed, you will be taken to your MyACOA dashboard.

To sign in:

  • Go to the MyACOA main page
  • Select Sign in
  • Use the same sign-in method you used to create your account
  • Complete the two-factor authentication process

Two-factor authentication helps keep your account secure.

Your sign-in method (GCKey or Sign-In Partner) is not your MyACOA account.

  • Your MyACOA information is kept even if you change how you sign in.
  • Re-enrolment reconnects your account.
  • Re-enrolment does not delete your MyACOA data.

You may need to re-enrol if:

  • You forgot your GCKey username
  • You no longer have access to your GCKey email
  • Your GCKey was locked or revoked
  • You were asked to change your sign-in method
  • You want to switch from Sign-In Partner to GCKey
  • You no longer have access to your Sign-In Partner

What you need:

  • An email address you can access
  • About 10 minutes
  • A modern web browser

Steps:

  1. Go to the MyACOA sign-in page
  2. Select “I have forgotten my account (username or password)”
  3. Select Log in
  4. Choose Sign in or create an account with GCKey
  5. On the GCKey page, select Sign up and accept the terms and conditions
  6. Create a username, password, and recovery questions
  7. (Optional) Add a recovery email address
  8. Set up two-factor authentication if prompted
  9. Return to MyACOA and enter your name, phone number, and email address
  10. Select Re-enrol with MyACOA and log out
  11. Someone from ACOA will contact you to confirm your re-enrolment.

Your request will be reviewed. Once approved, you can sign in using your new GCKey.

If you sign in using your bank:

  • MyACOA cannot reset your banking username or password
  • Contact your financial institution for help

If you no longer want to use your Sign-In Partner, you can re-enroll and choose GCKey or a new Sign-In Partner.

To re-enroll using a different bank or Sign-In Partner:

  • Go to the MyACOA sign-in page
  • Select “I have forgotten my account (username or password)”
  • Choose Sign in with your bank
  • Follow your Sign-In Partner's instructions
  • Return to MyACOA and enter your name, phone number, and email address
  • Select Re-enrol with MyACOA and log out
  • Someone from ACOA will contact you to confirm your re-enrolment.
  • Write down your new username and password and store them securely
  • Keep your recovery answers private
  • Do not bookmark pages after signing in
  • Always start from the MyACOA sign-in page
